But what is it?
Unterseeboot = Uboat

Uberseeboot = Uberboot

as Privateer mentioned previously the original type XI (eleven) Cruiser sub
was a Design exercise that was ordered into production by the Kreigsmarine
in early 1939 the order was for four boats U112,113,114 & 115. The design
promised to manifest in the second world war a design echoing the cruiser
subs of the first world war. Notably another U112 of those days and the conversions of the U151 variety with later dedicated models of similar design.

Historical Type XI Uboat // 3140/3630 tonnes.,
20-24 knts surfaced 7.5-9.5 knts submerged
12000 nm at 10 knts surfaced, 55 nm at 4 knts submerged
2 x 105mm twin turrets, 2 x twin 37 mm
1 x 20mm Quad or 2 x 20mmTwin
6 - 8 21" torpedo tubes 20 - 26 torpedo's, 1 aircraft

Type IX-XI Uberboot v1.1 beta // 1120/1232 tonnes
(necesary for game physics).,
24 knts surfaced, 12 knots submerged
16000nm at 16 knts surfaced, 125 nm at 5 knts submerged
2 x 105mm (with salvo capability to simulate twin mount),
2 x twin 37 mm (or 1 x 37 mm and 1 x 20mm quad)
6 x 21" torpedo tubes. 24 torpedos,
( no aircraft! sorry boys ask sergebuto or anvart or UBI or God,
because it would be beyond me.)
( high underwater speed premised on avaialble
walther engines of the time vs hulldrag )

The above stats arent necessarily finalised yet but thats likely close
to what it will be at release.

At the moment Uber although a great project is my second priority after
River Class Frigate (type2) which for various reasons it was important to
me to get that ship put into the game.

the real story of Uberboot mod is this. before I started modding for the
first time in my life I was playing SH3 back in nov a freind of mine who
was a regular for first person shooter games was coming over and he
just plain aint a sub driver. on the other hand he does play a variety
of other types of video game. So I was trying to entice him to catch
the submarine bug and I Had Him play the academy training mission
with the five Swordfish and the two Hurricanes. He had a great time.
and when he finished he mumbled something like is there a way to put
in more planes. I said that I might be able to do something like it in
mission editor. and a week later I put in a type VII with a flak tower.
Uberboot more or less sprang from their. what changes I made I didnt
have any Idea how to do. but used obvious reading skills and clues
and comparitive text to figure out what I could.

after about three weeks I talked to someone here at subsim mods workshop
the first time and two weeks later discovered modding tools.

Uber is Largely my own work ( albeit very crude and amateurish )
where River FF was largely the work of BBW.

River holds a place in my heart and will get my priorty
however Uber is a priority too and is being worked on
regularily.

it stands in roughly as a destroyer on the surface but can
still fully function as a regular Uboat.

It is an absolut blast to play and provides a totally different
experience than the sh3 player has ever had as far as I know...
