I can account for this.

In a single mission I created for testing this very theory I placed myself and one DD within acceptable range of eachother approaching the other Bow on.

The distance was such that we wouldn't detect eachother for several minutes from the start of the mission. I started it, kept steaming at 1/3rd and my WO spotted him almost the same time I myself did. I had the stealth meter enabled to tell EXACTLY when the DD spotted me and it did not happen untill about 3000km. granted this was a perfect weather day in broad daylight.

I restarted the mission, this time ctrl+pgup the minute it loaded. Attack periscope all the way up the stealth meter turned red moments later before I even saw the DD or my WO did!!!

I have experienced this in career which is what led me to do this test. Apparently it makes YOU more visible to them, and does abesoultely nothing for you.

Just my own experiment.....
