Thinking of it, Mk 48 Havcaps and Harpoons would make life easier in the late war...

Not really actually. No matter how many Harpoons you carry there will always be a few more Destroyers around to sink you in 1944-45

They are just so many it's impossible to survive

At least you could operate from a safe standoff distance...

PS : I am in the Med in 42 and I can't already find one single merchant not having a DD escort...
