Privateer and all:
No sweat.
Just thought the response from some was a bit more vigorous that it might have been, tho' after the recent episode regarding possible (probable) design plagerism, I can understand the "war room" rapid response.
Of course, you're right re: assembly - talking directly to the metal is very difficult. I do not know that the basic code is C++ of course, and without that one could not even start to read it.
Anyway, no one would or should want to mess with source.
Over at WaW someone suggested using a grease pencil on the monitor - right!

I don't mean to be rude, I was sure you meant no harm, but what you're talking about it's not just "borrowing" a tga and claim it's ours, modifying the executables is ilegal, I just want to be very clear about that GW isn't changing any executable file before someone cuotes you and things get out of hand.

Ref:
I do understand. No intent on my part to encourage attacks or modifications of source...I've written code myself and certainly do/did not want anyone modifying it.

We all have ideas for improving sims that we work with and enjoy. Usually we have no idea how those programs are really structured and what programming limbs are outside source and are accessible for appropriate modification. Not many companies encourage mods and fewer write code to permit much. I think that's unfortunate, for getting the user community involved usually produces a product that has longer commercial legs and ultimately is better, and usually permits a follow-on product that ultimately results in more revenue to the original developers.

I must give GWX a try. Wish the download were smaller so the time to acquire the program were not so horrendous.

Cordially, Archive1
