Who was Captian of the Defiant?:hmm:

BTW - I voted Picard.
Sisko was only a Lt. Cmdr. for about ten minutes during the Wolf 359 scenes...for the first three seasons he was a Commander, and for the remaining four, he was a Captain. Additionally, the Defiant was on the show for Seasons 3-7 (in other words, five of the seven seasons, well over half), and he deserves to be in the poll.

Gaaah! STEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!

One of the best ships in the Federation, one of the best captains and you don't put him in your list?!!

Well, I'm gonna vote for him anyway!!

Did Picard lead the final battle against the Dominion? Did Kirk come up with the strategy to help retake the only thing between the Alpha Quadrant and Dominion enslavement? Did Archer resort to working with a former Cardassian spy to murder a Romulan senator to bring the Romulan Star Empire into the war? Did Janeway fight hand to hand with an invading Klingon force at DS9 or the Jem'hadar at AR-558?

Ok, Picard got assimilated and kicked some Borg Queen butt, Kirk had his son killed (whereas most people wish that Sisko's son had died instead, whiney little s...) and kicked some Klingon, and Gorn butt, Janeway negociated a deal with the Borg and scored Seven of Nine, and Archer....well...yeah, he managed to survive in his Weak-Kneed Dinghy of Suckitude for as long as he did without the Romulans or Klingons blowing it to smithereens.

But Sisko, he had his wife killed, wound up commanding a space station in the middle of nowhere which then suddenly became a galatical crossroads, became a religious icon by discovering the Temple of the Prophets, as well as the Alpha Quadrants only stable wormhole. He's managed to help stop the Bajorans and Cardassians from blowing each other to bits, taken delivery of the warship he helped to design (which was put into successful production), successfully fended off a Klingon assault on the station, despite being heavily outnumbered, planned and lead the retake of DS9 from Dominion forces, got the Romulans involved in the war on the Federations side (could you see Picard plotting to dupe a Romulan senator?), lead the first successful assault into the Chin'toka system, fought in the Siege of AR-558, and then lead the final assault against Cardassia...despite losing his ship.
Then, to top it all off, he sacrifices himself to stop the Pah'wraiths from getting out of their prison.

If that does not deserve a poll option, despite the fact that the Defiant was only in it from the start of Season Three, but she certainly made up for it in style and firepower...so...

VOTE FOR SISKO!!

(Caution, all of the above is written by a self-confessed DS9 fan, and is liable to be completely biast....but...still....vote for Sisko!!!)

Just don't let the British accent fool you. It's that damned universal translator again!

And when did the mighty Sisko save Earth? Answer: Never.
Kirk saved Earth at least twice, once in a buccaneered Klingon Bird of Prey by going back in time!

Ah, gotta go with my man Kirk. As said above, he got all the alien babes, he had enough sense to wear a hairpiece, and he commanded a ship from a captain's chair, not on a lounge chair with a bunch of women clustered up around him.

Kirk rulezz!

I voted Picard because he fit the role well, and Stewart doesnt try to sweep Star Trek under the carpet like Shatner does

Your right he never saved Earth... he save the whole ****ing Alpha Quadrent!! He died saving the Alpha Quadrent!!

My vote is for Benjamin Layfatte Sisko!!

BTW Sisko did save Earth once or twice. Remember the episode where he goes back in time and becomes the leader of a revolt the shaped the future. (It was a two parter.)

We could do without the alpha quadrant easier than we could do without earth.

Yeah, but if the Dominion had gained an upper hand, Earth would have been next on the target list in order to eliminate human resistance, after all, that was Weyoun's plan.

In the end the Breen did a suicide run at it instead.

Damn Breen...
