Default Career Mode question.

I have been playing the dvd edition of Silent Hunter 3 that i picked up about 3 days ago. Here is my question: How do you end a patrol CORRECTLY? The reason I know I am not, is when I go to promote one of my crew, it says I must complete a patrol. I have tried entering the harbor and, being surfaced, entering the dock, then exiting my game pressing escape and you know the rest.

What in gods name am I doing wrong? Is it just a glitch with a dvd version of the game? Oh and I do have GWX installed if that makes a diffrence.

Hello,

Not sure but I think you have to complete at least 2 patrols for it to register all crewmen and therefore allow you to promote someone.

Ok, but am i "completeing" the patrols correctly? Also, half the time, I end up in the grid and there are no ships to sink. Last time, I got brave and made my way into an british harbour. Lest just say, there was enough depth charges to walk from there to berlin.

The quickest way to end a patrol other than being killed is to press 'Esc' end patrol etc.
Did you update the game with the 1.4b patch ? :hmm:
You say your using GWX....have you installed the 'Dec23rdmod' ? :hmm:

Don't worry, most of the time there are no targets to be found in the grid you're asked to patrol... You will often find a few on your way in, then :

1. Once you have finished patrolling your grid, you go to target rich places (search forum here, tons of tips on where to look) - which you can find also by yourself by looking at the map and think where the traffic in and out of allied harbours must transit. There are a few bottlenecks...

2. You can also simply ignore the grid if you don't feel like going there - it just brings a few extra renown points to complete the grid 24h patrol.

To complete patrol, you must dock back at base, either with the unrealistic "magic carpet ride" (Esc + Dock at xxx from anywhere) or by sailing back to base, then press Esc and "Dock at xxx".
