1) Better to have a working and moderately priced Basic package than an expensive Limited Edition collecting dust in the closet.

2) As long as the game itself is the same in both versions, I will be perfectly happy. And if the game itself ISN'T the same, I'd be annoyed enough to skip the game entirely ... again.

Such a thing Ubisoft integrated in "Dark Messiah of MM" as copy protection? :hmm:

A friend of mine pre-ordered that game for his brand new high-end PC but he was not able to install it because his DVD drive ignores the disc, the same with his game on my PC and with another copy of that game rented from a gameshop.

This incident and many others in the past taught me, never buy a game at release day or pre-order it before you not have tested it by a rented copy or in other ways.
1) I'm not too concerned about CP that simply makes the game disc unreadable. I've had that happen before a few times, and just returned the game to the store and said "oh well". The only thing that concerns me is when CP installs stuff onto a machine that can cause other programs or hardware to work abnormally or not at all.

2) Testing via "other ways" sounds like espousing piracy as a testing method, which I consider to be nonsense. For example. testing a pirated version won't tell you a thing about the potential for problems with reading the installation disc that you just finished giving as an example.
