Default SHIV limited exclusive pre-order

Nope, not for those of us who do not reside in the US or Canada, bad luck? No, just plain stpidity, as any other site that sells merchandise is set up for most countries, and will ship to most. Ubi have decided to only release the edition with all the goodies to the US and Canadian citizens.
Why did they bother asking us what we wanted in the box then? Or does somebody here know more

This reeks of arrogance if true. (I know its true that at the moment only US and Canadians can preorder, but it MUST be a mistake)

As you have pointed out Huey, why the **** set up a big "What do you want?"-thingy if only selected parts of the world would benefit? I wouldnt have bothered voting if I knew there would be no chanse for me getting my mits on it.

Oh, and talk about alienating alot of the fanbase ... almost the entire world!

Don't fell to badly guys. I for got my username and password on ubi so
tried to open a new login acct. on different email address and it wouldn't
accept new password. Kept giveing me password error in red. Gave up .

ps. Got the problem solved but after alittle thought didn't preorder.

edit: I also don't understand if a limited special edition is $49.99 what is a plain jane going to cost ? If it's the same price or alittle less for less stuff that should come in the game re: manuals , maps they just lost a customer. I don't need any game that bad. These are my feelings on the matter as after reading alot of posts from supportive ubi kaleuns that
won't get a shot at a limited edition because of shipping policies. Ive always beleived in fair play and this situation isn't right. I can easily afford the limited game but, not at the expence of my dignity.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that the European Edition of SH4 will contain all the goodies (perhaps minus the documentary) by default.

You´d voiced your opinion in the original thread, there´s no need to copy/paste the same post in two other threads.

Hey, Huey - you obviously haven't read my last post in the SH4 Packaging Info thread.

The Good News: people in Australia can pre-order one of two SH4 packages from GamesWarehouse, one for $79.95 (http://www.gameswarehouse.com.au/lon...p?gameid=13911) and the Collector's Edition for $89.95 (http://www.gameswarehouse.com.au/lon...p?gameid=13990). But at least we get to pre-order something, unlike SH3.

And we get a pen!

The Bad News: I've asked GamesWarehouse to clarify with their supplier but we seem to be getting packaging more like the European release than the US release, except we don't have the option of the "Super Collector's Edition" because we don't have an Ubisoft online store. So we're only getting somewhat shafted instead of totally.

I think there will probably be a limited edition version of the game for the US, Europe and Australia. The contents might differ slightly but that's not uncommon in game marketing.

I think Ubisoft are concentrating more on the US market this time in the hope of selling more games in the US due to the fact that the game features a US sub.

Without getting into anything heavy here, it is a fact that some American consumers would not buy a game that places them as a German U Boat captain, but they would be happy purchasing SH4. The Limited Edtion with its extra goodies is to a degree targeted at those people.

There's more than one issue here. Some time back on the Ubi forum a user called AudibleKnight popped up and announced that he was a SH Community Manager and invited us to both ask questions about the game to be submitted to the developers and what sort of goodies did we want in the box? So we all gleefully jumped in and contributed our collective 2c.

More recently, of course, it transpired that the Ubi US online shop was accepting pre-orders for SH4 and AudibleKnight announced the contents. The problem was that the Ubi US store won't sell outside the US/Canada, so the first issue was why were the rest of us being treated so shabbily. When the fecal matter hit the rotating blades AudibleKnight suddenly announced that he was in fact the US SH Community Manager and that his announcements only applied to the US/Canada, giving rise to the second issue, mentioned by Huey but probably without the necessary context in this forum, why the hell did he invite us to contribute our ideas and desires about the goodies pack when we apparently weren't going to get any.

Now some sort of European package has appeared on the German Ubi site, although it seems you still can't pre-order anything on the Ubi UK online store. Moreover, as I pointed out to Huey, although this time it seems Australian Kaleuns can pre-order something we still don't get the option of the Super Collector's Edition because Ubi won't sell to us. If we seem a bit tender on the subject it's at least in part because we got overlooked when SH3 was released, not to mention the subject of general fairness.

I understand your point about the American market probably being more receptive to a game featuring US subs, but I would remind Ubi that we're in the Pacific too (Cairns in NE Aus. was a large sub base in WWII). So perhaps we have a teensy weensy interest in the subject ourselves. And we even have credit cards (if only Ubi would allow us to use them).

Seems like things are getting overly complicated. Just release the same thing for all areas so people know exactly what they are getting.. also you avoid one group of people saying they got the shaft.

My brother's girlfriend lives in Houson, so I suppose I could order it to her address and have her mail it from her house to mine...

But I don't think I'll be pre-ordering anyhow, so that's a no-go.

Jeez, that's not right you guys can't get the same package as us. I don't understand the reasoning behind it....?
