Since it is all in the name of fun, this just was emailed to me.

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist
threats and have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940
when tea supplies all but ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to a "Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was during the great fire of 1666.

Also, the French government announced yesterday that it has raised its
terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide." The only two higher levels in France are "Surrender" and "Collaborate." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France's white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability.

It's not only the English and French that are on a heightened level of
alert. Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout Loudly and Excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides."

The Germans also increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance"
to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two
higher levels: "Invade a Neighbor" and "Lose." Belgians, on the other hand,
are all on holiday as usual, and the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels.

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy.
These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Perhaps we can perpetuate a few more streotypes.

All Germans are NAZIs;
all Spanish speaking people are lazy;
all Brits have bad teeth;
all Ausis are criminals;
all French are surrender monkeys;
all Italians are mafiosos;
all Jews are cheap, money grabbers;

I could think of a few more but I think you get my point. None of these images are true or helpful. Let's not turn this forum into a 'hate forum'.

My two cents.

And since America is made up of people who came from all those places...no wonder everybody hates us!

Or, as Bill Murray said in Stripes: "Never forget: our forefathers were kicked out of every decent nation on earth!"

And there in lies the difference. From the inception of this nation it has been about allowing people to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. Unlike other nations we understand that those basic precepts allow a nation to grow and become great.

Ultimately this is why we are disliked by so many. The US embodies everything that other nations and ideologies lack. Call it opportunity.

I call it... Naw, let's not turn it into another one of those

I will say one thing: the vast majority of all large populations are, unfortunately, poorly educated and don't really have a good world-awareness. I don't think it's unique to America, though there's certain cultural features in America that make it more likely.

How odd. I don't find it does. I spend a lot of time reading papers on epistemology, it's a pet hobby of mine, and you don't get much closer to the truth than that! Rather than finding it hurts, I enjoy it immensely, even if some truths are unpleasant.

If you do find that it does hurt, then that might explain why you selectively avoid it so much. :hmm: What aspect of truth do you find hurtful?

You could make a film about people knowing how to spell "capital" (not captial). (just kidding, I should know better than anyone that spelling is not a good indicator of intelligence!)

Anyway, your quite right!

Stupid is as stupid does....

Bubba: Have you ever been on a shrimp boat?
Forrest Gump: No, but I've been on a real big boat.

Forrest Gump: Mama always said, dying was a part of life.

Lieutenant Daniel Taylor: Have you found Jesus yet, Gump?
Forrest Gump: I didn't know I was supposed to be looking for him, sir.

Ahh us crazy dumb simple minded Americans... wouldn't want to be anyone else.
