You can. See below:

Thanks! Now I can get a general idea of the active sonar frequencies used in the game. I´m thinking of writing my own spreadsheet of ASF (actually, I´ve already listed a few so far...), it would be fun to do my own research!

Thanks Cyklop. Good to see you again.

Stickied.

And now we know what to ask LW to throw into the next LW/ami! Active freq differentiation!

I´ve always wondered if, in real life, ships and subs always use the same frequency on their active sonar. Well, it surely gives away your position... But do you need to tell the enemy WHO you are as well as WHERE you are?

I think different freqs have different performance characteristics. I'd speculate that different sonar designs have different optimal frequencies for the best results. It's also probably safe to say that lower frequencies yield longer ranges, while higher frequencies provide better resolution, so there are choices to be made in how you want your sonar to perform in chosing a frequency (or perhaps, frequency range).

It's a little more complicated than that. Active sonars have some set characterisitcs and are identifiable IRL, as well as telling us some other things about the emitting patform. It's not necessarily a solid pulse of accoustic power like you see in game though.

Do dolphins and bats emit one solid pulse, or do they show some variety?

Hi, thanks - it's good to be back and see some old friends.
Any chance of an MP game in a disciplined group? (outside virtual fleets)

I am up for a game.

I hope people come back to DW, there's really NO reason NOT to play the hell out of this game (crosses fingers and waits for a cross post with like 10 major, obvious bugs that the dumbass worthless beta crew missed... :p ) now.

Cheers,
David

PS It's a year late, but DW's back... I think.

PPS EVERYONE needs to understand just how hard Jamie and the crew at SCS try to work on this game within the limitations imposed on them.

Yeah, that's been on the menu for some time now.

I'm pretty sure all the bugs and major platform-specific oversites are taken care of, so now its possible to do some nice refinements that make a substantial difference in how DW plays in a subtle but satisfying way.

I'm looking forward to it... after the Mk60 and TIW-missile launch messages and some new models, or maybe at the same time, I dunno. That's the fun of it, I don't know any more than you do until it's done.

Cheers,
David

As far as changing frequency, PRI, PI and so on, let's just say there are training/exercise settings and "war" settings.
