Default Quick Question - Manual Targeting

In realism settings, if I check the "manual targeting" box but leave the "no weapon officer assitance" unchecked does that mean I can put the scope on a ship, then ask the WO to make the solution for me and fire accuractely or will I need to do everything myself?

Thank you,

M

When you check manual targeting you will have to do the following on your own: range, bearing, AoB, speed. Plus assure that you enter that into the TDC.

If you do not have WO assistance you will also have to, right off the bat, positively ID the ship on your own, as you won't be able to calculate range or speed without knowing that. I've never played with manual targeting on and weapon officer assistance --it's always been auto-targeting and no WO assistance, or manual targeting and no WO assistance-- so I'm not sure what you can expect with manual targeting and WO assistance. At a guess, I'd say that with the WO assistance he'll ID the ship/type and class for you.

Yes, the 3 icons under the Weapon Officer's "Torpedo Attack" order menu will function. You can ask him to ID the ship and plot a solution for you. The solution is only good for that moment however, so you must be ready to fire immediately after he gives it to you ( ie. Have the torpedo doors open and have completed any torpedo settings you want to make). You still have the option to do the solution (range, bearing, AOB, speed) yourself, his help is purely optional.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm just taking the plunge into manual targetting. This is a nice way to learn the ropes as I can use the WO to show me if I'm doing it correctly.
