U-972, 1st patrol: December 1943: 25 air atttacks within 9 nights. survived.
U-972, 2nd patrol: Februrary 1944: 9 air attacks within 7 nights. survived so far.

Yes, I stay submerged during daytime - no chance otherwise.
And no, I don't have a schnorchel...too expensive.

Radar detectors (NAXOS, METOX) are your best friends. Always dive if you have a warning and stay submerged for at least 30 minutes. Always!

Cheers,
AndyW

currently U-972 König, 2nd patrol 2/1944 [SH3 + GWX 1.0 @ 84% realism; real Navigation]
Total: 10 careers, 41st sailing, 877 days at sea, 561,361 tons sunk

That sounds about right Andy, 43 on was really ugly. Currently I mid 41 and doing OK. I can wait for 43'

Hawk! 4 patrols...you go! I'm proud of you! See? It's better when you just stay in your bunk, isn't it?

I'm on GWX #20. July, 1941. BdU's got me mid-atlantic (Freetown). Nothing except a whole lot of water! (I'm out damn near a month and have bagged one (1) large cargo for about 11K. Almost went after three neutral fat-assed tankers out of boredom. I've seen French shipping all over the place...but they're neutral now...

In a Type VII...is the guy nuts? Does he think I've nothing but GOBS of fuel???

I'm still in '40 and in no hurry whatsoever to see '43.

Damn it, we have been detected..... Doenitz is pinging us in his own port....AAAAALLLLLAAAARRRRMMMMM!!!

We cannot go any deeper Kaleun our harbor is only 25 meters. We are already stuck with the clams

Then silent running!!!!!!!!

Does not matter Kaleum your antenna is breaching and has done so since we submerged in our own harbor. The ruse is up!

Thus ended my 5th patrol............back to port.....oh never mind we are there already, blow ballast please....look sharp now.......

Now I need an alibi for Doenitz....I think firing squad is his answer. I wonder if he will give me a war patrol medal first:hmm:. Then again, to get one I have complete a war patrol.
