Two questions:
1. Is there some way GWX can be moded so I can install a whole bunch of skins and one of them will be randomly applied when I get a new u-boat?

2. For the history buffs - Are rusty U-boats historically accurate (and I realise you weren't going for historical accuracy here Venatore, this is just a general question)? I ask because every naval vessel I've ever been aboard has been so squeaky clean and well maintained that you could almost eat off the decks. I don't remember seeing rust anywhere. I assume the Kreigsmarine would have been equally as fastidious in keeping things ship-shape?
With regards to your first question, I'm not to sure, you would have to ask the more experienced forum members with regards to this.

With regards to your second question, I'm a Infantry soldier in real life serving with the Australian Army, so my vast knowledge in boat rust is nil, but I can identify rifle rust :rotfl:

I'm not too sure on what the answer is, but if this rust is detracting from the overall skin then I will have to re-skin with new templates.

:hmm:

Hehe.

No, no, don't worry about that, that's not what I was implying at all. Your skins look great. I imagine U-boats covered in rust too but I was just wondering if that was actually the case. Idle curiosity is all.

With regards to rust gathering on U-boats, it's generally thought that when they returned to port they would have been re-painted and cleaned up.

However, weathering (read paint flaking or blistering) probably would occur, although more so on the longer patrol length boats like the IX's.

Great skin Venatore

In answer to the question about paint...U-boats most definitely became 'weathered' because of the constant corrosive effect of the salt water..see the photo below as an example:

  • I've identifed a problem with the front conning tower dial. The dial does not sit in its compartment correctly. This was not caused by the skinning process. You can find a picture of this problem in the above post. I did not want to submit this skin to the public with this dial issue, but after trying to fix it myself and receiving no feedback on the post above, I coulden't wait any longer. Please don't relate the dial issue and this skin as a poor product from me. I want to deliver only the best to you and this is bugging me, if you have any information with regards to this dial saga I would like to know, so I can fix it and if I can't then hopfully someone can because you can have a good skin, but that means nothing when certain things look CRAP!.
  • I hope you like this skin.

I would like to see that winter skin made for the VII boats or maybe the IX..

Man, that last skin made me want to make a movie! Pretty please, make it for the VIIC!

I love it, venatore. Really good looking, and completely different from others so far.

(The one above is great too)
