In the tutorial you can either play for practice or exam. It sounds like you didn't press exam before you played to get your renown....?

In another words, you can click on tuturiol and play or click on exam and play. You get renown for your career if you "pass" the exam. It sounds like you played the game under practice or whatever and when you finished clicked exam but the game only rates you if you click "Exam" first and then play the tutorial. The other is for practice only....

With regards to reknown, is it a set amount each time, regardless if you pass them all?

The amount of renown you receive is based on how well you do.

I did the academy b4 and didn't want to waste my time doing it again, so I simply modified the file b4 I started playing GWX.

How to skip Naval Academy:

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<yourusername>\My Documents\SH3\data\cfg, and find the NavalAcademy.log file.
Change the content, to look like this:
Quote:
[PLAYER]
Name=<yourkaleunname>
Rank=10
Exam0=true
Result0=500.000000
Exam1=true
Result1=500.000000
Exam2=true
Result2=500.000000
Exam3=true
Result3=500.000000
Exam4=true
Result4=500.000000
This will give you a few excellent, one or two average results, etc.
Doesn't matter, because if you pass the academy this way, you will still get the max. of 1500 renown.

Why not the max of 1,000,000,000 renown?

Why even if you do edit it to get 1 million renown what are you going to get in 1939? I have re-edited my basic .cfg so it cost me nothing to get anything in GWX but that's the way Ilike to play it I think of it like a tonnage war like it was in RL.
