Great skins Especially like the red hull version. (Any chance of getting that scheme in The IIA & D version?)

I will be skinning all the variants. I'm not good at the camouflage schemes at this stage of my Jedi Padawan skinning training, "Reece" uploaded some U-Boat pictures to me, to have a look at. I try to use soft mat colours so as to make the entire U-Boat easy on the eye, they were a beautiful machine and I would hate to do the U-Boat discredit.

Your translation is just fine mate. I re-skinned the first three VIIB/C's and re-submitted them back to the forum. You may have the older blue/grey skin, to what you now see on this thread. I'm sorry but that brighter blue has been converted to the one you see now. I'm sorry if this has caused confusion

WOW!!!! My friend, you are giving Fubar a run for his money. I have all these great skins, and can't choose which to use now.

Sounds like it's time to put all my U-boat skins in SH3 Cmdr Random folder.

Keep it up, you've become one of my favorite modders in the last few months, you keep coming up with cool stuff. I hope you can submit something to SafeKeeper for NorOps You've outdone yourself, good job.

Look really nice mate, good one!

Two questions:
1. Is there some way GWX can be moded so I can install a whole bunch of skins and one of them will be randomly applied when I get a new u-boat?

2. For the history buffs - Are rusty U-boats historically accurate (and I realise you weren't going for historical accuracy here Venatore, this is just a general question)? I ask because every naval vessel I've ever been aboard has been so squeaky clean and well maintained that you could almost eat off the decks. I don't remember seeing rust anywhere. I assume the Kreigsmarine would have been equally as fastidious in keeping things ship-shape?

With regards to your first question, I'm not to sure, you would have to ask the more experienced forum members with regards to this.

With regards to your second question, I'm a Infantry soldier in real life serving with the Australian Army, so my vast knowledge in boat rust is nil, but I can identify rifle rust :rotfl:

I'm not too sure on what the answer is, but if this rust is detracting from the overall skin then I will have to re-skin with new templates.

:hmm:

Hehe.

No, no, don't worry about that, that's not what I was implying at all. Your skins look great. I imagine U-boats covered in rust too but I was just wondering if that was actually the case. Idle curiosity is all.

With regards to rust gathering on U-boats, it's generally thought that when they returned to port they would have been re-painted and cleaned up.

However, weathering (read paint flaking or blistering) probably would occur, although more so on the longer patrol length boats like the IX's.

Great skin Venatore

In answer to the question about paint...U-boats most definitely became 'weathered' because of the constant corrosive effect of the salt water..see the photo below as an example:
