I heard some dolphins on the hydrophones the other day... way in the distance.

I didn't try to find them but it was nice just knowing they were there.

A sign of good luck!

Cruiser indianapolis , was torpedoed by a japanese submarine i-58, two torpedo impacts send it to the depths in 12 minutes.

900 survivors stay 4 days in the waters encircled by sharks until they were spotted by a plane thinking that was a submarine oil slick, only 317 stay alive.

"The USS Indianapolis (CA-35) was commissioned at the Philadelphia Navy Yard on 15 November 1932. The ship served with honor from Pearl Harbor through the last campaign of World War II, sinking in action two weeks before the end of the war. On 30 July 1945, while sailing from Guam to Leyte, Indianapolis was torpedoed by Japanese submarine I-58. The ship capsized and sank in twelve minutes. Survivors were spotted by a patrol aircraft on 2 August. All air and surface units capable of rescue operations were dispatched to the scene at once, and the surrounding waters were thoroughly searched for survivors. Upon completion of the day and night search on 8 August, 316 men were rescued out of the crew of 1,199."

Matter of fact, watch the movie Jaws. Whats his name, the captain of the boat that goes out and kills Jaws tells the story of the USS Indianapolis as he was a member of her crew. One of the best moments in that movie in MHO.

Just heard some more Dolphins coming out of the Bay of Biscay. My TC slowed down so I went down to check and it was another pack of Dolphins, I didn't track them down this time, but they're there if you want to find them.

The texture you posted is the one in GWX...I made the skin....I think it was Rubini that did the navigation of the dolphins and activated the sounds I believe. I think the sounds are a very cool addition

The original stock ubisoft dolphin looked like this:

The GWX version that I did looks like this:

The original texture weird looking dolphin was in game but, ubisoft never activated it. It was hidden in the original game dat files and was never completed.

The 3-d model of the SH3 is limited since it was never complete....you can't place the eye in the correct postion due to the model limitations. The textures stretch in alot of weird places on the model. So, I placed the eye in the best spot with the least amount of distortion. If you move the eye in any direction from this point, it will turn into a long smear or smudge of a line. Its a very difficult texture to work with and this is what it looks like:

You can see how stange the model is just by its shape.

Its a limitation of the poor UVW map the SH3 Devs makde for the dolphins.

That skin might not be the one in GWX.

I know this has already been addressed in this thread, but I'll emphazise this point (as I'm a marine biologist)--you can find "dolphines" all over. In cold and warm waters. I live in Southern California (near the channel islands), and we have some of the highest densities of dolpines you'll find anywhere in the world--and the water isn't warm here. Water temp. has nothing to do with their distribution. Food dictates their distribution--and of course you find different species in different habitats.

Anyway, lecture over. Besides, I study marine invertabrates, so I actually know very little about marine mammals. Just enough to be dangerous.

Cheers,

I have some ships to sink.
