Some of the claims against starforce are true, however some of them are false or mixed with myth and rumor.

There is a lot of discussion about star force on this, and countless other forums.

Back on topic:
Ubisoft did release a download version of the game. I do not know if it is still supported. I suggest you ask UBI soft.
I am not sure if it uses SF.

The versions on DVD now are under AU $20, and I am 90% sure that starforce has been removed! The downloaded version doesn't have Starforce but only allows a set number of installs.

Yes, dont buy the download version, cause you will use up your reinstalls the first week. :rotfl:

You should be able to see the Starforce in your add/remove programs list to be sure.

Take Stabiz's advice, buy the disc. You will be uninstalling/reinstalling for mods and such.

I purchased the game through ubisoft / direct2drive deal, about 19 clams. Hey I live near Syracuse NY, we got malls and tons of places were games are sold. But none of them carried SHIII, which seemed like BS to me I mean you can still get StarCraft for crying out loud. Figgured I waisted enough time out looking for the game so I decided on the d/l.
The first d/l was corrupt, 1.64 gigs. So you can download it again n/p, but on basic dsl @ 3 hours that's a pain. The install went fine except for one error reported resulting in one of the video tutorials for the academy won't play.
I started a thread with a question on what the dvd - d/l differences were, got zip :hmm:
I was realy just wondering if extra single missions etc. were excluded.

edited to add; Don't recall seeing any starforce jazz but when I get home I'll double check. It did however install something I belive called GameShadow. Said it was for updates. I have not used it to my knowledge. Right under the game d/l was a link for the 1.4patch, before I boought the game I went though this site to make sure thats what I needed.
