On 8 March 1968, К-129 was lost at sea under mysterious circumstances. Four main theories have been advanced to explain her disappearance: flooding from the induction system while charging batteries on the snorkel, a hydrogen explosion in the batteries while charging, an explosion while launching her missiles, or collision with USS Swordfish (SSN-579).
It's been interesting reading about this incident, and the various theories around it. I was curious what this community thinks happened, or what the most plausible explenation is to her sinking. We're we truly saved from a rogue sub hoping to launch on the US?

A book of the same name also exists and a review has been made on this board .A review of it in Proceedings made mincemeat of it.

Pingjockey wrote a good review of it on Amazon.
I might get it from the library but I will not pay money to read it. |

I'm going to get the book but a few reviews I have seen show that it is disparate pieces of info tied up in a convincing manner.
Going to rent it from the library. I do't think anyone in the politburo was that mad. |

This book is certainly not worth buying unless you like thrillers or you must have every submarine book in existence(I fall into the latter category). What would be more interesting to know would be what happened to the pieces that were recovered after they were examined.
