Slow.........

First of GWX rocks and is worth the wait.

I have a P-4 3200 with 2 GB's RAM, fesh defrags daily, and a 160 GB HD with only 40GB used.

Average startup is over 2 minutes. Single game loads are varied but 3 -4 minutes is not unusual.

I am loaded with 16KM, and full outfit....

There's lot's to wait for so.....

SH3 needs a least 256Mb RAM to run... With GWX, since it increases the workload by higher realism, better textures... You should expect at least 512Mb ram. Use some tools to free up RAM before running SH3 may help

I was wondering if anyone has a RAID array and what the loading times are like for GWX? (Of course, the other components also factor in.) I don't hear that much about RAID systems anymore, though they're still being built and used.

Mine is. See my post earlier in this thread.

Kool. I don't feel too bad. Gotta AMD 3000+, 2g Kingston ram, 60g SATA and 80g IDE HD (storage) and just got a career load time of a little over 3 mins.

IMO, daily defrags are overkill. A HD will be minimally defragmented over one day, even with extensive use. I don't defrag unless a HD is heading over 15% defragmented.

Default Defrags

It was a C/NET article and it was easy to set it up.. As a result I don't worry about defrag status at all. Done daily... Use the computer to compute...

Everyone can do it there own way.. I can do it mine...

Merry Christmas!!
