NorOps - name change

All right, so I felt that Norwegian Operations (NorOps) was too generic, so I decided to do a name change.

The name I'm most likely going to stick with is Wolves in the Lion's Waters - lions in part because Norway's coat of arms, which may date all the way back to 1103, depicts a lion wielding an axe, but also because it fits well with the "wolves" part.

If anyone have feedback up to and including other name suggestions, I'd like to hear them.

Britain and the Netherlands also have lions in their coat of arms, not sure about Belgium and Denmark, maybe something to reconsinder? Not bashing, I just thought of it.... IMHO NorOps would be a better name

it's a very common heraldic sign.
Lion or Leopard, rampant or passant, are used in a lot of European country, region and even city, I think, coat of arms...

Maybe soma is right, maybe you should keep NorOps, but your the boss

I know it is, actually, I did some research on it. Still, a lot of Norsemen really associate lions with their nation (don't know about others with the same animal in their coat of arms), so it seems fair to use it.

Thanks for the feedback anyway. We'll see.

For my part, I like NorOps.

On a side note, I have often wondered how the heck Lions got into ANY of those coats of Arms? Really, if there were never lions north of North Africa, why are they represented as the symbol of England, Denmark, Norway --- NORWAY??!?!? More like Polar Bears? Also, why are lions the king of the jungle, if there are no lions in Jungles (tigers, sure). Wierd.

Not meaning to sound flippant, but I do like NorOps, you have one of the coolest mod names out there.

Until just after the birth of Christ there were lions all over southern Europe, from the Iberian penisula all the way east to the Middle East and India. The European lion survived in the Caucasus intil the tenth century or so. There are only a few hundred surviving examples of such lions in India still left today. They're normal lions, just slightly smaller.

As for the name of the mod, how about "Wolves in the Viking's Waters"?

Default Name

Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill were sometimes referred to as lions also. I like the Nor-op name also as it has a military sound to it.

NorOps has a good ring to it. Remember, it's bad luck to change the name of anything that is put to sea!!
