I'm sorry but constructive critisim fine..but just critising for the sake of it well....

No one is forcing you to use any mod..it's all down to personal preference.

Well GWX as well as NYGM are very good in their own right. Which one each of us choses depends on loads of different factors. I will side with GWX but that's just my opinion. My suggestion to everyone is to try both and make up their minds. What I cannot understand though is why people keep playing a game that is free if they don't like it. It's not compulsory. If someone doesn't like something the simplest thing to do is to hit the un-install button.

I agree with the "dont like it, dont play it", but please do not try to come in here and convince people that know better. And the way it has been worded expect we have a troll.

Off now on a patrol with GWX.

Hmmm. Interesting post. But I do have to disagree with #2. Sinking ships in NYGM is ridiculously hard. I know, because I spent a long time playing with NYGM installed. From all of the U-boat books I have read, they all say the same thing- usually one or two torpedoes would sink a ship. Not always, but usually. GWX got this feature dead on right in my opinion.

And regarding #3, NYGM destroyers are like Terminator robots that will scan the depths with x-ray vision and will not stop until you are dead! That's what they do, that's all they do! :p

I feel that GWX took a better, more realistic approach regarding enemy ai sensors and weather, waves, night visibilty detection, etc.

I'm going to make a bold statement here: GWX is realistic, NYGM is hard.

GWX achieves difficulty and challenge through more realism features such as the LRG, damage model, RLST, real uboat behaviour etc. NYGM calls itself realistic because it is hard.

I may get my rear kicked for this... (runs and hides)

All I will say is this:

It is obvious to me that codmander is not aware that GW1.1a and GWX are two entirely separate projects.

It also appears to me that maybe codmander has not even run GWX... much less downloaded it.

Therefore to me it seems his so-called opinion is baseless and unqualified... ergo pointless.

Moderators, could you please lock this thread.

It will only degenerate.

In his defence, I think he is running GWX, and in the list of his pros and cons, the pros outweigh his cons. So...

I have to agree with the above posts regarding NYGM. Hard doesn't automatically equal realistic. NYGM is unrealistically too hard.

I'm playing both NYGM and GWX. I, for one, am glad that there are different mods available to suit different tastes. I'm also of the opinion that comparing NYGM and GWX is about as productive as comparing apples and oranges. Both are outstanding mods that represent significant amounts of unpaid effort on the part of the developers. As such, I have nothing but good things to say about each.

In short, I think constructive criticism is generally appreciated by all, as it ultimately improves our gaming experience as a whole. Unconstructive criticism, such as the first post in this thread, doesn't help anyone and is generally a waste of bandwidth.

I would very much like to see the moderators exercise their ability to delete threads such as this one, as they are ultimately counterproductive to the community. Perhaps we could even vote with the rating or a thumbs-down...

Agreed, and these threads always pop up when a new version of each is released.

GW vs NYGM / GW1.1a vs NYGM 2.1 / GWX vs NYGM 2.3

Do you see a pattern?

We all end up coming up with the same conclusions as before.

USE THE ONE YOU WANT TO.
