@Seth - Could this be what is happening with you? Does it always occur in shallow water?
Yes, true.. I was in shallow waters off the coast of Norway in 1940. (Stupid me, i should have realized something that obvious...)
Thanx alot, SubConscious!!

Seth! Never ever sit on the bottom in shallow water in bad weather! I sometimes sit about 2m from the bottom and still occasionally scrape the bottom! It's not too bad if you are doing 0 knots though and in calm water I'm able to sloooowwly settle on the sea floor without damage if I'm doing 1kt or less. You have to be very careful the that nice submarine that Onken Karl gave you to look after.
:rotfl:
It took a lot of practice with the external camera to get it right when not using it. (I still take a peek occasionally if I'm in a particularly trick spot though!

.....sorry....Tell Onkel Karl that i will be very careful in the future......
:rotfl::rotfl:
I depend on the external camera now, for just that reason...When hiding from a DD, i panic if i hear the loud scratch/bang sound when hittin' the bottom! Who said war was easy...?

Here´s my two cents concerning the original post...

1. Go SLOWLY to the bottom

2. Make sure you are at zero knots when touching the seafloor

3. Once you are there, press "D", which avoids bouncing

4. When you want to leave the bottom you should think about using "E" (blow ballast) instead of "S" - the reason is simple: when you just surface ("s") at zero knots, your boat is likely to start scratching and taking damage while still close to the bottom. Besides, it takes ages to get her up.

If you don´t want to suddenly break the surface, make sure you order a certain depth after hitting "e". This prevents you from just rushing to the surface.

Cheers, AS

I'm not so sure you'll be able to sit on the bottom if your using GWX when it's released ....but then again you just might

Oh, you can sit on the bottom even with GWX or any mod and usually after the DC blows a whole in the pressure hull sealing your one way trip to the bottom:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
