Well, as you say, I guess I'm not the first one who kissed the bottom...
What I mean is that I can handle a 737 simulator without making a mistake, but not this little subsim. But of course the subsim is fun and entertainment, while the other one is serious stuff ![]() |

This is one of the many things that I like about NYGM 2.2: When I crash dive, it takes me to 20 meters. There is probably a way to tweak this in one of the config files, but I'm not aware of it.
Good luck with U-48! I had the same boat before I upgraded to a Type IXB (U-108, which sank 26 ships for 135k tons). U-48 must have been a lucky boat: It not only was the most successful, but it also survived the war!

When not too sure of the depth or sure there is not enough, I got used to a manual crash dive, which is basically order ahead flank and the requested depth. Doesn't take much longer than finding the C on the keyboard. As the main reason for crash diving is the sight of planes I also add a 15/20° rudder on one side to try to get off line of the bomb run. After that I usually pray because I can't do much more...

What I typically do is to order a crash dive, then immediately set the depth that I wish to attain. This overrides the 20 meter setting. I'll tell you though - that 20 meter setting can be a lifesaver in shallow water.

I'll answer that with a quote from a post I made in another thread:
