Hi bookworm; the mod is War Ace Campaign 1.92 graphics improved, plus one more that I don't recall the name right now, I remember it is version 2.7.
I would attack the escort if it wasn't changing its course and speed every time, I suspect that helmsman was drunk or something (I would like to have those sound homing torpedos, but it is too early in the war), an since they didn't seem to find me I just pressed my attack on the merchants.
