Even further "at the end of the day what is the likelyhood of being stopped for your ID card"? Seems like it would be completely useless or redundant. It's common to think that the politicians must be taking a share from the card production. But if you really think about it, it's the wallet makers that want this thing pushed: you'll need one extra slot to store your card. If you have it, good for you, if not, time to buy a new wallet.
