Nice looking plane JU88
As to importing the aircraft - dont look at me :rotfl:
An idea for future aircraft would be to take an existing plane - say the B24
Export the .obj then either import your .obj into that dat or rework the B24 parts to get the shape of the new parts then import again

how the hell do you place guns on an aicraft? I mean positon them, surely that has to be done in a 3d editor like max?
It tried it before, i dont have the right type of brain for it, if someone can help me make a mod out of this - then great, if not - then too bad.

I´ve not modded any type of acft yet. But I think it will be the same issue as for the ships. You´ll have to model the guns with your 3D programm, export them as *.obj and put them into a separate *.dat file. In your PLANE.DAT you use the Nodes (cfg#A/L/M) under non3D to position them. And the *.eqp that comes with the plane is used to attach them to the plane ingame.
Forgive me if I´m mistaken. I´m doing this from memory, actually. I´ll give you more information, if needed, when back at home.

Regards,
DD

woah... thanks, not sure if thats all that clear to me

(Im a total noob at this.)

ill give it a try.. think I still have pack3d somewhere, but i found it frustrating to use, maybe I need a different version, last time i got pissed off with it and gave up.

anotherthing, all the sh3 stock planes are chopped up in pieces for damage modelling purposes i guess, do i need to do the same with my model?

Default Plane in Pieces

Yes, I would do so - and make the individual parts correspond to the stock parts in the .dat you are using, so that the damage model will work properly. You may want to export the .obj files in a .dat first to see how it has been done for a stock aircraft. Although, actually, it seems as if you have already done that.

May save you chopping it up
