Anyone seen it. Just watched the movie apparently this happen between 1972 to 1975 to a young god fearing christian who ended up possesed by demons. The movie tho has its hollywood moments and was not set in the 1970's.

religous side to it:
Real name Anneliese Michel She claimed she had 6 demons tormenting her , Judas Iscariot, Nero, Cain, Hitler, and Fleischmann, a disgraced Frankish Priest from the 16th century, and Lucifer which had manifested through her.

Medical side to it:
A neurologist at the Psychiatric Clinic Wurzburg diagnosed her with "Grand Mal" epilepsy. Because of the strength of the epileptic fits, and the severity of the depression that followed, Anneliese was admitted for treatment at the hospital.

Yay another triumph of religion in the care of one with a severe mental illness

My better half has been on about seeing this one, not really my cup of tea though... where's the explosions, eh? Mind you I did make her watch "Come and See", as revenge for her last movie choice- "The Devils Rejects".

Was this one any good then, asside from those hollywood moments?

If you like court room drama movies then yes, its mainly about the prosecution of the Priest that performed the exorcism on her with scenes of her and how it all happened as the case goes on. - because she died, he was charged for neglet even tho her family and Emily agreed to the exorcism.

It has its moments of her in her devilish ways, and some freaky bits too

The movie gives the viewer two sides to the story - either she was just very mentality ill or she was possessed by demons: Yet i like what they said in one line - a mentality ill person thinks they are normal like everyone else where possessed ppl know theirs something wrong and seek help

Exorcism has been around since christanity began. Priests have been doing it for centuries, and still are asked to exorcise to this day. Jesus deciples had the power to chase out demons. So why not God fearing Priests?

Hell is fire and suphur, on record every victim that has claimed to been possess and lived through it have said a strange burning smell of suphur was always present.

Can a person be possessed? I believe so. Medical side of it is they are just crazy/sick etc., But these possessed victims all claim they are not well they know theirs something not right. On the other hand A mad person does not think they are mad but normal like everyone else.

Kiwi, that is a pretty broad statement. having a little experience in the field of psychiatric health I have both read and come into contact with a number of mentally ill people who know there is something wrong but don;t know how to explain it. One of the common explanations particularly in deeply religious patients is that they are possessed.

Until someone comes up with one shred of physical evidence for possession I'm sorry I can't believe.

Iceman you being a christain i thought you would agree? Did not Jesus chase out demons? and his deciples do the same. Or because this is modern times with scientific theories it must therefore be some brain disorder. Last recorded exorcism was in 2004 in Itali by catholic priests. If it was happening 2000 odd yrs ago why can it not still happen today.

Does not satan works to fool us, near the end she claimed she saw the mother mary, work of satan - the mother mary is a false prophet - their is nothing important about Mother Mary yet catholics pray to her. The devil fool her into thinking Mother Mary came to her. Now many catholics visit her grave and have it as a shrine. Satans job was completed.
