Default A RTS game?

I am a little disappointed about the ability to control other units in the game. While this feature is appealing for some people, I think it detracts from what a sim is and turn the game most of a RTS oriented game. If you can control about 30 other units ,you would use a very arcadish phisics in all of then and also in third view Imagine if in Silent Hunter 3 we could do that, we have no sim anymore, we have a RTS game.
Just my opinion.

I think I remember reading somewhere that you have sim style control for about 10 boats (pt & e boats etc) and "outside view" rts style control for the others destroyers etc

We may actually also have it in Silent Hunter 4's new "Escort Commander" multiplayer mode, although the details are still concealed in an Enigma code at present.
