The future mother-in-law went down there to take a look, she said she wasn't impressed. I wonder what she would have said if the Knock Nevis showed up

But yeah....tonnage

I have seen bigger ships than that in my bath tub.

Hang on it's real. Wow that is big.

Everytime I see a large container vessel, I can't help but think of the mess one would make on the ocean floor if it were to run into trouble and sink.

Green peace realy has hit hard on this ship, but id like to say that while at sea this container ship as well as the majority of ships at sea dont acctualy consume that much diesel and 95% of the diesel consumed is used on lighting and other electircal systems on the ship.

Dart 8 had two engines she could carry 3,500 tonne of fuel she did portsmouth to the gulf and back without the need to refuel this is simply because she consumed less fuel than the average diesel car.

Alot of ships now use special shafts which help cut down on fuel, i wouldnt hesitate to say that the emma maersk could do one entire trip denmark britain italy india singapore on one tank, the OOCL Shenzen holds the record of 11,712NM on one tank.

180,000 to 260,000 tonnes no way maybe 110,000 OOCL Shenzen the former largest container ship in the worl is only 92,000 tonnes.

I have yet to see a container ship hit over 150,000 tonnes its not been done yet.

Only ships that realy do displace over 180,000tonnes are bulk carriers and oil tankers VLCC and ULCC
