Got an installation error that I can't overcome.

Ok, I think I have located the source of the problem.

I just tried to install CIV III, because I wanted to try installing a few more games besides Brothers In Arms to see if it crapped out.

It did!!! Similar kind of error, too. So I am thinking that my DVD-ROM is having some sort of issue. Possibly when I was backing everything up I may have overburned it?

Anyway, could I get a few people to confirm my troubleshooting at this point, and then I will risk going and getting a new drive if I can get a few people to reaffirm my diagnosis.

Any other way to check it?

Any recommendations for a company to go with?

I will be heading to school shortly to go ahead and get a cheapo copy of Windows so I have one. In the meantime I will see if the school store has a drive someone could recommend.
