DW doesn't do well when you make a scenario too large. After a certain point, it starts to get into things that Harpoon does better.

It's best to think of DW in terms of smaller situations, involving just a few platforms. It's a tactical level simulator, so you don't want to do WWIII all at once. It doesn't do it well, and it also kind of misses the point of what makes DW exciting.

Break it down. Instead of thinking of the grand operational vision, look at the individual pieces and examine them in detail. Think about what really matters from the perspective of those in command of the individual ships. Analyze your scenario, and break it down into smaller vignettes. It might be only one task group, or even a portion of the task group versus a submarine, or maybe a wolfpack. Maybe it's a couple FFGs versus a few missile boats or an SSN patrolling a barrier. The whole Falklands going on at once is really more like a DW campaign.
