Seriously, it's a tax. Normally, this is a fixed fee tax per household and not per TV set in a household. It's used to fund government boradcasting.

That is ridiculous! Then again, the American government does it as well except they just throw the tax into all other taxes owed (Property, Sales, Federal, State, County/City etc)

Sounds like England just shows you guys better where your money is going than they do here over here in the US.
