This is to all virtul navies on the net.
This whole issue about members abusing other members people "cheating" and what have you realy has to stop, its not fair on any members or this subsim community. Your bikkering your "war" is driving the people away from this community, your doing more harm to yourselves then to the otherside, people who come here and read the posts hear the bikkering word of mouth are less likely to join any fleet. If we could all just get on and work together to achieve the one goal and thats fun in all of this then we would have such a better life here. The idea of joining a navy is to be part of something, we dont need the rioting and the flameing. By doing all of that it means that players are limited from playing everyone and makes gaming alot harder. So i suggest this, we stop right here right now the argueeing the bitching and put a line under all of this and get on for the good of our fleets, we will then play together and to make sure theres no accusing of "cheating" going on we can find an independant map maker to set up some maps for fleet wars. (i will not be making them). Dont you think that if all this stuff stopped we would all benifit? Think about it please!

That is the major reason I have never joined any virtual Navy.

I considered joining a couple of times, and then there would be post after post about someone cheating, or taking advantage of some glitch in the system, and what exactly constituted cheating.
I am 66 years old and enjoy the Sims very much, so if I just play single player I avoid all the apparent hassle of multi-player. So I play singly and I cannot very well cheat myself or blame anyone else of cheating. The whole issue is to much of a hassle, worrying about cheating takes the fun out SC,688i, or DW. I strongly urge everyone to read and take to heart what Kapitan said. People who designed really good missions quit because people finding fault, propably because they could not beat them.

I used to only ever play single player games for that very reason a long time ago, and figured it was far too great a hastle to deal with possible cheating and other issues that come up when people get together online. I got hooked on Jane's 688(i) and played it a lot. I went on the web one day looking to see if there were any other missions out there, as the thought of playing a mission I made myself seemed pointless, and found a virtual group, the Seawolves. I was asked to join and against my feelings at the time figured I would try it, I mean I could simple quit if it wasnt for me. That was about 9 years ago and for all my time in Seawolves I had a great time. I am now having even more fun in a new group GNSF (Global Naval Strike Force). Yes, in my time with virtual groups I have seen cheating, "buddy buddy clicks", and other unpleasantries, but weighed against all the was gained it was a microscopic percent. Any time you gather more than one person, conflicts will happen, as its human nature, but the benifits that can be gained playing with others can far outwiegh any problems that pop up. So, now, even with the occasional headache, I still get great joy from the interaction with others that enjoy the same sims as me. While this is not for everyone, I have found that the vast majority of players belonging to virtual groups, and the ones that just play with others and not members of a group are great people. Yes, a bad apple will always come along at times, but that is no difference than "real life", but for the most part its simple good people that you can play with, learn from, and have a blast. As I am sure you can probably see this just by visiting this forum and seeing how all the people here interact, they are all good people having fun with games they enjoy.

Stern, I believe the Virtual Naval Groups are basically very good and I believe they contribute to the community. But lately, it seems like we go through spells where most of the posting is about some one doing something, after a while you think "GOD" will this never end.
Maybe I will give a Virtual Navy a try. Again thank you, Ron Banks MMCM(SS), USN(Ret) ![]() |

Sure, there are the regular problems now and then, like in normal live, but nothing to stop me playing. When you want to try a multiplayer game, just to see how it is, let me know. |

Ron... 'ol buddy. With everything that we've been thru I feel bad since I've invited you to one said group. Granted, they didn't have much bickering going on...just other problems. Might I suggest to follow up on the other situation I gave you and give me ring sometime!

Ron, in my opinion, if you havent played an online mission, with multiple different platforms, using live voice links, youre missing out. The excitement of a joint hunt-defense against live players in real time is awesome. The only reason I play in Virtual Fleets is to have a larger pool of people to dive with-against. Think about it sir. Swims

That said, I don't think virtual fleets are for everyone for various reasons, but it is a great way to find opponents and multiplayer really is the way to play a combat simulation.

God I have always wanted to use "Balderdash". Joe we have been friends since Moby Dick was a Minnow, so don't feel bad about any thing.
To all of you I will give a Virtual Navy a shot, I have never played on line, so I don't know anything about it. Sonar and i was going to play way back but my connection was slow, about snail speed. I have Satellite now so I assume it would be fast enough. If the fix comes out "the battle pack" that should address the flashing I would love to play 688i or SC on line, I still don't consider my self good enough at DW, well fair on subs, but FFG, and the planes, I suck. Thanks all of you, now this is the kind of stuff I like to read and respond to on this site. Ron Banks MMCM(SS), USN(Ret) ![]() ![]() |
