Excellent idea about the Delay!!!!! ..... As far as limiting the sound to the First Hit.....I don't think it can be altered...:hmm: ....If any seasoned "Sound Men " know please chime in....

I would think that a "General Quaters/Alarm" would be sounded apon a Fire/Torp Hit..... If any Merchant Seamen could verify.......

I wanted to make this wav so as to make the Merchant seem "Alive".... That people were running to Damaged control stations...Will continue to look into...thje delays/effects:hmm:

Shame you can't attach a sound to the spotlight that comes on from the ships when your detected at night!

I've been thinking about adding cries, sirens, etc. to fire sound effects, too. Good thing there's someone here who does more than think:p about getting things done.

I remember in David Irving's book on PQ-17 that in one instance a U-Boat commnder missed with his torpedo but knew that its wake hadn't been spotted because he didn't hear the ship's alarm go off. Based on this I'd imagine that merchants used alarms just like warships.

Hmmmm... Methinks we might try to add air raid sirens to land based spotlights... :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

No promises though.

OK, so then we have...
  • The siren/klaxxons after torpedo impacts,
  • The chaos of yelling, running, tripping, pushing, and running out of the bathroom with your pants around your legs following the "crash dive" order,
  • The dive sequence following a "dive to periscope depth" order.
Did I miss anything?

It'd be damned nice if someone added a "screaming injured sailor"-sound file to whenever someone got injured. And some sort of panic or something when the sub was seriously hit. It's just about all that's left to expand (I guess maybe there could be a "Reload!"-order after firing deck guns, too?)

there is one flaw in this design of having to Klaxon in the torp explosion. Prematures.

I remember seeing a war movie and there were DD's going in to a depth charge attack, and they were making high pitched "woop woop" sound from their sirens.
Sounded great.

Is the "flaw" that there would be sirens with prematures, or that there wouldn't be? Seems reasonable to me that if a ship detected a premature explosion they might still want to sound a warning, since obviously something weird/dangerous is happening if explosions start going off in the water nearby.
