Default Subsim community

just a silly thought,. i wonder how effective the subsim community would be if they could crew a sub by themselves. Can you imagine a sub full of sub enthusiasts! it would be a night mare :rotfl:

another thing I was thinking about was WW2 submarine veterans. Does anyone have any contact with such a person because I was wondering if they would actually be angered by our regular talking of sinking ships etc....After all these folks lived through hell and we are enjoying it in computer simulation.

Too many captains and not enough stewards, I think...

With my "extensive" knowledge all I would be capable of is running around and screaming (or whispering depending on the situation) "Hard to Port" and "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead." I think it may end up as a scene out of the movie "Down Periscope"

Well, considering the threads I read on a daily basis here:

1- A good portion would be too stoned to do anything.
2- Half would be disagreeing on politics and the nature of the mission undertaken.
3- Some young sailors would be telling off older officers with their foul mouths.
4- Some officers would be too much in shock to function because of those sailor's foul mouths.
5- And, half would want a mutiny on board because some officer killed the cat mascot.

Probably the most frightening phrase I can think of is "Bring an OLD toothbrush......"

Now apply it to everyone who comes onto the sub.

That could actually make a good reality tv show.

We'd need a decent sub simulator. DW maybe just tweaked with bugs ironed out.

Good idea! Yet its a Uboat and we spend 60 days inside. Like in the story of U 977 that left kiel for Argentina during the end of the war and stayed submerged for 60+ days never surface. Towards the end the crew were pretty annoyed with each other . But they made it.

60 days plus and never surface...hmm! well I think they snorkeled here and there, since 60 days without air and recharged batteries would be impossible, no?:hmm:
