GW has always contain play changing features, mostly behind the scenes nuts an bolts stuff, but there none the less. This time round, this nut bolt tweak has a more visable impact with some pretty niffty features.

The fact is that GW, being a big team and a huge mod, takes their sweet time in coming up with these new gameplay results. But when they do - they really get a LOT done

Will this be an optional part of GWX? Because, to be honest it sounds supremely difficult to succeed at SH3 with those types of features. While it's based on historcal fact, it seems to forget that it's a game as well, and moves the game into Ricidilously Impossible Difficultly Level. While all those sorts of things happened to real u-boats, they had 50+ people to help keep things going, a SH3 captain has 1.

I can understand wanting more realism and I can understand not having destroyers on easy mode, but should something as basic as staying at periscope depth be "more tricky" in the name of that? A lot of these "realism" mods coming out now seem to be more of a masochism mod instead.

Call me a cheater, or a child or whatever, but I want the challenge in SH3 to be from the enemy, not the basic controls of my boat itself. Combined with the new "real" repair times it just seems that the u-boat will be massively damaged and flooded nearly instantly, things will be deliberately made worse by these mods at a hastened rate but repairs will take longer than the crew has to survive. Am I completely off base with that assumption?

Guess these sorts of "realism fixes" just don't sound "fun" to me. Having to micromanage your depth won't be fun. Being destroyed far easier and having a harder time even trying to evade also doesn't sound fun. I appreciate that some players want to suffer like that, and want to have the game on "Why'd You Even Bother To Undock" difficulty mode, but I'm just not seeing the "fun" in these sorts of changes.

I know you guys are having to wait a long time... I have to say that I can hardly wait too. All I do is code and test... code and test... communicate... coordinate ad infinitum... Some days it is terribly tough to keep hammering and sanding when I want so bad just to go on patrol! LOL.

The wait will be worth it. You've seen the tip of the iceberg and we only talk openly of a few things that we have completed.

The difference between GW 1.0 and GWX is like comparing night and day.

We aren't going to send her out to sea though until she is ready, no matter how tempted we may be.

Releasing GW 1.0 threw open the doors for like-minded people who aren't afraid to think BIG and do a little hard work. This translates into TIME... and only naturally so... and is why we don't discuss release dates. We are attacking our own work from every direction and trying to break it as we go... This process also takes time and is required if we intend to meet what is expected of us. Everything must be first balanced with everything else.

LOL, throw all the rotten fruit and veggies at us you like... In the end we'll throw them back!!!

Everything sounds fantastic and I hope we will get completely new game, as real as it can be done. Thank you very much.
It's good that you don't respond for forum members questions so nervously as earlier, Kpt.Lehmann. Every forum member simply would like to play GWX the fastest as it's possible. I don't play career in SH3 now, I'm waiting for GWX release. Keep your good work

Well,
The realism fixes sound pretty damn fun to me - I can't wait!! Keep up the fire boys!!

If GWX doesn't sound fun, I think the biggest option is to not download it - and possibly, quite respectfully suggested, get yer head checked.

Regards,
Yarre.

TGW was the single best improvement to the game and it sounds like GWX will take that further ahead perhaps an even bigger leap.

The above sounds so very cool and addresses some things I have been unable to figure and now can stop thinking about.

One point was made about it being too real for some players.
While I am anxious for such an update is there a way to allow for less realism fanatics to get most of GWX without that intensity?
Say no and I personally don’t care give me reality to the enth degree but just a thought!

BTW, don’t wait too long. It might be not in our interest for it to come out near SH4 and be so good we don’t want to transfer to the USN.:rotfl:

Now that sort of realism isnt everybodies fun but believe me it is playable
As this is supposed to be a sim as well as a game there are compromises
But having said that this is not intended to ba a shoot em up and no one is forcing anybody to use anything they are not comfortable with
The GW team cant be expected to provide individual instals for players who dont like some bits but like others
Give it a try before deciding - if you dont like it well go back to your previous game
Personally I love it and I only started playing the game as a sink em all shooter but as time goes by you need more

I cant wait to try it out. I have slowly started building up the realisim in my game as i go along and learn new bits and pieces. Iam at this moment slowly trying to teach myself manual TDC which is funny and a little stressfull. I just love the feeling of getting totaly imerssed in the game. ( that is till the wife starts shout at me )

Heres the thing, If you set up your shoot as 1 should at the merchants in the convoy from a respectable distance like they did or you manage to sneak into the convoy at say 25m and then slowly creep up to shoot like they did, you will still get tonnage but now you just have to be a tad more sneaky. And thats the whole point really, think Silent an Sneaky and then hit em where it hurts.

You currently have that for things like the 8km vs 16km views, generic contacts, enhanced sea floor.. those type of options.

I guess my point is, will the ultra hard core mega micromanagement type changes in GWX be installed as those options were, or are they too difficult to seperate and will only be available as core? NYGM has managed to remove their anti-humming bird mod to work with GW standalone, so since this seems to be that same type of feature I'm just wondering if it'll be an optionally installed part of GWX or only core.

That way those who want the realism over enjoyment can have it, and those that want the rest of GWX's wonderful features can choose to activate or unactivate the "difficulty" mode of some of these new realism features.

Either way I'm very much looking forward to GWX. Since I've started SH3 it's been with GW, never played anything but the navigation academy in vanilla mode, so I'm hoping I'll enjoy the next step as much as the first few.

Yes true the ones you mention are optional but those are simple things tp optionalise ( ? )
NYGM may well have made the antihummingbird mod available for GW users but if I bet if you ask them to make it optional in their release I know what the answer will be

Besides did you note the rider from the NYGM antihummingbird for GW thread /

The NYGM Anti Humming Bird Mod is compatible with all mods including Grey Wolves 1.1 & nvdrifter’s various longer/extended repair mods with the proviso that the NYGM Anti Humming Bird Mod breaks the XXI.

At the moment the uboat behaviour mod is a fully intergated part of GWX and will AFAIK remain so

Some things all run properly alongside something else so removing one thing stops another from working properly

The farthest I've gotten is the beginning of '42 on 84% difficulty.

I'm looking so badly forward to the Grey Wolves expansion. I really do appreciate the hard work you guys in the developer team put into it, in your spare time, for no financial gain.
