Very observant, though on this side of the International Date Line the celebration was on the 14th.

Here's a bonus question: World War Two officially started on September 1, 1939. When did it officially end?

Agust 14 1945 (dont know the time) when the treaty was signed on the Moursi.

Nope. That was the surrender.

The American Revolution was over after Cornwallis surrendered to Washington in 1781, but the war didn't officially end until the Treaty of Paris in 1783.

WWII officially ended on...

Okay, time to let you off the hook.

The Second World War officially ended on April 28, 1952. That's when the Treaty Of San Francisco went into effect. The treaty was actually signed on September 8, 1951, so that could be claimed as the official date.

And Oberon, you recall correctly: the Soviet Union was represented, but refused to sign, along with Czechoslovakia and Poland (who of course were controlled by the Soviets at that time).
