Vance responds to Zelenskyy’s criticism of Russia’s justification: It is absurd to say that US is on side of Russians

US Vice President JD Vance said he did not support Russia, commenting on the words of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the alleged justification of Vladimir Putin's actions.

This was reported by Reuters, Censor.NET informs.

Vance stressed that he had condemned Russia's actions back in 2022, but was now trying to understand the strategic interests of both sides to find ways to resolve the conflict.

"That doesn't mean I morally support the Russian cause, or that I support the full-scale invasion," he stressed.

The US vice president also added that understanding the "red lines" of both sides was essential to finding peace, and called it absurd to claim that the US is allegedly on the side of Russia:

"I think it's sort of absurd for Zelenskiy to tell the [American] government, which is currently keeping his entire government and war effort together, that we are somehow on the side of the Russians," Vance said.

Witkoff calls talks with Putin "compelling" - Bloomberg

President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff called his talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin last week ‘’compelling,‘’ saying they were discussing steps that could end the war in Ukraine and possibly lead to business opportunities.

According to Censor.NET, Bloomberg reports this with reference to Witkoff's interview with Fox News.

Donald Trump's special envoy said that Putin had made his request to secure "a permanent peace," that accoding to Witkoff "took a while for us to get to."

The key to an overall agreement, Witkoff said, revolves around "five territories." He didn’t provide more details, but Russia insists that its seizure of parts of Ukraine since 2014, including Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk, must be recognized in any accord.

While Putin has previously demanded that Ukraine be barred from ever becoming a member of NATO, Witkoff said he also raised issues related to the bloc’s central tenet that an attack on one member constitutes an attack against all members.

"This peace deal is about these so-called five territories, but there’s so much more to it. I think we might be on the verge of something that would be very, very important for the world at large. I see a possibility to reshape the Russian-United States relationship through some very compelling commercial opportunities that I think give real stability to the region too," Witkoff said. Lavrov: EU will do everything to prevent change of "Nazi regime" in Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claims that Europe allegedly wants to find a "brand new semi-Führer" and preserve the "Nazi regime" in part of Ukraine.

His statement was quoted by Russian media, Censor.NET reports.

According to him, the peacekeeping plans promoted by European leaders are aimed at keeping Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in power.

The Russian minister is confident that Europe "will do everything to ensure that the regime does not change in essence".

"All these peacekeeping schemes drawn by the Macrons and the Starmers are based on the fact that it is necessary to preserve at least a piece of land on which the Nazi, openly Russophobic regime will remain, imprisoned for the next preparation of another war against Russia, as was done with the Minsk agreements," Lavrov said, adding that "no one is even talking about elections."

The Russian foreign minister claims that European leaders may be looking for "some new semi-Führer that will be less dependent on various substances".

Lavrov also said that during discussions with Western countries on any agreements related to the Russian-Ukrainian settlement, Moscow insists on "checking Ukraine's good faith".

By appeasing Russia and giving it card blanche in Ukraine to acchieve its war objectives freely, he hopes that Russia will sit still and stay idle when the US turns on China. Quid pro quo. Sacrificing Ukraine to Russia, he hopes to drive a wedge deeper between Russia and China.


He is victim of an old-era-thinking in which the world was divided only between the US and the USSR, and were China played no role and was non-existent on the world stage.

Ambassador Makeiev: German weapons transferred to Ukraine have proved to be very effective at frontline

Ukraine's Ambassador to Germany, Oleksii Makeiev, has responded to media reports of alleged massive problems with German weapons transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He said this in an interview with RND, Censor.NET reports.

Recently, the German edition of Spiegel published an article about massive defects in the weapons systems that Germany supplied to Ukraine.

Makeiev assured that these weapons are by no means unusable, and that German weapons are among the best in service in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"It is much better than Russian weapons. And it has proven itself very well. It saves lives every day," the ambassador emphasized.

At the same time, he acknowledged that in the context of war, there are signs that something in the armament needs to be changed.

North Korean artillery now dominates Russia's ammunition supply

The majority of artillery shells used by Russian forces in Ukraine in 2024 were manufactured in North Korea, according to a joint investigation by Reuters and the Open Source Center (OPS), published on April 15. North Korea has become a key military ally of Russia, supplying artillery shells, missiles, and reportedly even soldiers in exchange for oil products and advanced rocket technology.

Internal technical reports from Russia’s Defense Ministry, obtained by investigators, indicate that in some Russian military units, between 75% and 100% of artillery shells are North Korean-made. Overall, North Korea is providing roughly half of all artillery shells used by Russian troops, according to Ukraine’s military intelligence agency (HUR), as cited by Reuters. Arms shipments from North Korea to Russia began no later than September 2023, following a July visit to Pyongyang by then–Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the investigation found. Between September 2023 and March 17, 2025, Russian cargo ships Angara, Maria, Maya-1, and Lady R transported military cargo 64 times from the North Korean port of Rajin to the Russian ports of Danube and Vostochny.

According to satellite images, the ships carried at least 15,809 containers in total. Cargoes from North Korea also traveled by the Friendship Bridge railroad across the Tumanna River in Primorye. Deliveries peaked in January 2024, with seven batches per month, and cargo ships are currently transporting about three batches of shells per month, according to the investigation. The containers could carry between four and six million artillery shells alone.
