Default Actor Val Kilmer of Top Gun fame passes away at 65

Actor Val Kilmer passed away at 65 from from pneumonia. He had somewhat recovered after battling throat cancer diagnosis in 2014 that required two tracheotomies.

Val Kilmer had a reputation for being difficult. However, Val would throw himself into parts for the sake of Art.

Critics widely believe that Val Kilmer should have won an Academy Award
Oscar award for best supporting actor in 1993 for his unforgettable portrayal as Doc Holiday in the movie, Tombstone.

Critics also believed that Val Should have won an Oscar for his work in the Movie Heat in 1995 with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.

Someone on youtube once wrote of Val Kilmer's performance in Tombstone. If Doc Holiday himself was performing in the Movie Tombstone, Director's would say, perform the part like Val Kilmer did. That may well be the best compliment of all. Val was in other notable roles like Top Gun, Batman and others.

Never regretted to watch him acting. Bon voyage, with snowflakes dancing like Migs in the sky.

He was Top Gun in some of my favorite movies, RIP.

I wonder what it will say on his Tombstone or is that still Top Secret?

His acting career was like Deja Vu under a Comanche Moon. A Double Identity Conspiracy hatched on Columbus Day leaving everyone Standing Up and Breathless by the Salton Sea.

He was a Hardwired Real Genius at 7 Below and his time of death was 2:22.

People have posted on Val Kilmer's character in Topgun - Iceman. Val certainly played a good part.

Tombstone was an excellent movie that paid homage to the old Western Movies in the vein of John Wayne, Robert Mitchum, Doug McClure, James Stewart and Sam Elliott among many others. However, in the movie Tombstone, Val Kilmer's portrayal of Doc Holiday really stole the show. The strength and success of the Movie Tombstone was reliant on the Interaction of the Characters and Actor themselves. The movie Itself took many Liberties with history and factual Accounts. That didn't detract from the Movie experience or great performances of the Actors.

As I had mentioned, Val Kilmer had a reputation for being difficult. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that Val Kilmer was a professional and also a perfectionist. Val expected everyone to rise to his standards and be a professional. Val's comical and wisecracking approach to the portrayal of Doc Holiday somehow made him seem more menacing and dangerous.

Sadly, Val joins Charlton Heston, Bill Paxton and Powers Boothe who have passed away.

Val Kilmer and Michael Biehn as Johnny Ringo practiced this epic scene. The look in Johnny Ringo's ( Michael Biehn's ) eyes at 0:19 says it all. ( Oh no, It's Doc Holiday ) That's just a textbook example of great acting.

Johnny Ringo knew he wasn't a match for Doc Holiday. However, Johnny and his posse definitely knew that a drunk Johnny Ringo had absolutely no chance against a stone cold sober Doc Holiday.
