I've searched the forums but have found no links etc. or missed them. There was a mod by Capn Scurvy (apparently retired, has not logged in since 2021) I was told which made the SD Radar able to be turned on/off by a switch on radar section of orders bar the way the SJ is.
Would like to bring this into TMO update but cannot locate the mod and frankly lost on how to make this happen. |

I think it is impossible. Because the early warning radar is made as a regular sensor. For realism, all that is important for it is to remove the bearing on the air target and the range. SD could not give a bearing and determine the range to the target. It could only give the presence of an air target up to 37 km. But more often the watch could visually detect the aircraft faster than the SD signal would sound. But this is during the day in good weather. In other weather conditions, the benefit of this device was felt. |

Quite possible, the SD is turned on and off in FOTRS mod. The original mod was by Capn Scurvy from what I understand. Unfortunately, unable to make it where operator does NOT give a bearing like the real SD. They don't call out the range (operator) and player only knows range if measures on map. If playing without map contacts (as I often do) then no clue. I have modified visual sensors of deck watch in TMO so they do spot the AC before the SD does in some circumstances, especially if flying below 1000 feet. Turning it on/off will be a great asset. I am also convinced an unlisted feature of the sim is enemy planes home in on SD signals (as planes could in real life) and heard this from other modders as well. either way, it will give a more immersive and realistic feel to have it turned on/off like the SJ. |

--------------------------------- I understand you perfectly. You are following the path of judgment about how it can be. I also followed this path, and often made mistakes. The best method to be sure is practice. Try temporarily removing the SD radar from the boat. In a single mission, write down all the test conditions: weather, unit, boat. And you will come to the correct and accurate conclusion. |
