All of wore film badges and then the we nukes would carry pocket dosimeter of the pen type-they clipped to your collar or pocket for exposure when you worked in the compartment during shutdown. You could monitor them yourself to limit your exposure, not real accurate but a sage guard more or less. The film badge was your main reading-Corpsman collected them and read them but I don't remember how often. You logged your dosimeter reading your self and then discharged for further use. I believe it had a 5 REM scale, but not sure anymore.
