I am also having random sounds when surfaced such as hearing cannon shots and splashing sounds but the sub isn't being attacked. It happens when the yellow squares which represent other Uboats are present so I am assuming that they are attacking in packs and these sounds are played to show those attacks.

The game crashes every time I click on Program FAT (to program the FAT torpedo). It just crashes to windows, every single time.

Does anyone have this issue? Simply select a mission, later in the war, go to the torpedo room and select the purple head torpedo, the FAT. Try programing it, the moment you click that button, it crashes instantly.

Also the TV acoustic torpedoes, I'm not sure they even work. They don't seem to follow any target or prop noise. Most of the time they miss.
Can anyone confirm this?

Turning off the status line stops the crash to desktop for me.

The setting is located on the menu under Game->Options->Status Line set it so it says off.

When you do that you can program the FAT and LUT torpedoes. Once you are done you can turn the status line back on.
