I know it’s not as important as what Whoopi Goldberg thinks.

But we have a major problem developing with our fleet. Aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines may not be sea-worthy placing crews in jeopardy.

In a letter to Congress on 3 Oct 2024, Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro said that poor welds were found on the aircraft carrier USS George Washington as well as the attack submarines USS Hyman G. Rickover and USS New Jersey. In addition, the welding issues were identified on 23 more ships -- a mix of new construction, ships in maintenance and aircraft carriers undergoing refueling.

Reminds me of Boeing.



Reminds me also of a debate here in Germany recently, that the many migrants in the workforce with their different cultural background have lower working ethics and that young people today have less willignness (and qualification) to deliver working quality and that this would hamper "made in Germany" even if Germany would manage to get sufficient foreigners into its labour pool.


The background with Boeings' problems is a different one, it seems, mroe with too many managers and bean coutners making enginbeerÄ'S decisi0ns for which they are not qualified.



Still, all these things remind of one and the same symptom: degrading quality in work and labour results.

You could be right especially if it were an isolated incident involving the same ship & shipyard during a specific time period . But if it’s as widespread as it seems it could be sabotage. Not so much that things start falling apart during the course of an uneventful deployment. But it could affect the survivability of our warships when engaged in combat.

Got a question to my American friends here in this thread.

I read an interesting article about US policy in one of our newspaper here in a Danish or in a Swedish newspaper. If I find it interesting I may post it here in this thread-'cause it's about either a candidate or the policy.

Someone said it is for European viewers to read. I say it has as much valid place here in this thread as any post from you.

Is this wrong thinking ?
