no offense intended but you need to read a bit of historical reference on Darwin as a naval base in WWII.

the quick version is that Darwin was thoroughly bombed by the Japanese in February 1942 and remained vulnerable to air attack until late in 1944 when Dugout Doug finally secured PNG and the US Navy made the IJN carrier fleet a non-entity during the First Battle of the Philippine Sea.

some of the megamods of SH4, notably Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate, make use of Darwin in a historically accurate manner.
