An attempt to amend the NY constitution to allow mail-in ballots was shot down by the voters. The next course of action was to ignore the voters and do it anyway. The court’s majority said it had evaluated versions of the state constitution dating back to 1777, and concluded that it now “contains no language that explicitly requires in-person voting,” though Wilson said lawmakers and leaders have often acted as if it does.

In his dissent, Judge Michael Garcia said that the state constitution had been understood for more than 200 years to limit absentee voting to people unable to appear at the polls in person. “The ‘no excuse’ universal mail voting legislation violates that constitutional limitation,” he wrote.

Besides that, he said, the legislature’s decision to change the law after the proposed constitutional amendment failed essentially told voters “we never needed you anyway.” He said the court has “both the power and the duty to remedy what happened here, and our failure to do so diminishes us and nullifies the will of the People.”

1. Trump’s 2016 campaign did not collude with Russia. They wasted $30 million of our tax money investigating that groundless accusation.

2. Trump did not incite his followers to riot or attack police on January 6th, 2021. He told them to protest “peacefully and patriotically,” and after the riot started, he urged them to obey the police and leave quietly.

Trump did not refuse to visit a US military cemetery in France because, he said, the soldiers there were “suckers and losers.” The trip was canceled because the weather was too dangerous for his helicopter to take off; and the “Suckers and losers” quote was refuted by everyone present, including people who are not Trump fans.

6. Trump never said he planned to be a dictator from day one if reelected. He scoffed at the accusation, then joked that he would be a dictator for only one day, when he'd order the border sealed and oil companies to “drill, baby, drill.” Joking about being a dictator for one day and vowing to be a dictator from day one are two very different things.

7. Trump did not say there would be a “bloodbath” if he didn’t win. He said there would be a bloodbath (financial) in the auto industry if Biden did win.

8. Trump never suggested that Americans inject or drink bleach to fight COVID. Seriously, did anyone really believe that one?

9. Trump’s platform is called Agenda 47, not Project 2025. That’s a Heritage Foundation initiative that Trump had nothing to do with and has dismissed.

10. Trump does not back a federal abortion ban; he agrees with the Supreme Court that it’s a state issue.

There are many other debunked lies about Trump that are as worn-out as Columbo’s raincoat, but if we could just edit those 10 out of all the speeches we’re about to hear, they could probably wrap this convention up in two hours. If you must watch this Super Bowl of hooey, then print this list out and have it by your chair. However, I would not suggest turning it into a game by taking a drink every time you hear one, or you might die of alcohol poisoning.

I would add that I came to the conclusion the weather excuse may have been the U.S. simply being polite to the host country. At the time I found there were very serious credible threats on Macrons life. Which lead me to think Secret Service thought it best not to have their ward standing next to a target. I called France an unsecured craphole which of course ticked off all euros.

'Treason': Trump may have committed a 'massive crime' in call to foreign leader

Former President Donald Trump may have called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss a potential ceasefire deal with Hamas that President Joe Biden's administration is currently negotiating. Now, experts are saying Trump may have committed a felony.

Newsweek reported that two anonymous "U.S. sources who were briefed on the call" confirmed to Axios that Trump spoke with Netanyahu. And according to the New Republic and PBS, the former president reportedly urged Netanyahu to reject the deal currently on the table. The Israeli prime minister's office has denied reports that Trump spoke with him, and the Trump campaign hasn't publicly commented on whether the call actually took place.

A private citizen engaging in diplomatic conversations with foreign governments is a violation of the Logan Act of 1799. U.S. code stipulates that violating the act is a felony punishable by fines and up to three years in prison. However, no one has been successfully prosecuted under the Logan Act in the past, and national security expert Steve Vladeck recently called the law "unconstitutionally vague."

Still, news of the reported call has prompted calls for an investigation. Democratic National Committee member David Atkins told Newsweek that if Trump indeed called Netanyahu, it would constitute a "massive crime." Actor Steven Pasquale expressed a similar sentiment in a Wednesday tweet.

"Trump, a convicted felon citizen, no longer in any role as an elected official, conspiring with Netanyahu, to avoid peace, because it might help his political opponent, is pretty balls to the wall treason," he wrote. "Logan act. A crime. We still have laws here don't we?"
