There are enough border regulations and laws already on the books which allows the Federal Government do just about anything it wants at the border. The real issue is what law are they going enforce and when.

Who me, or us in general? Voter turnout is typically pretty low at something around 65% and a lot of people don’t follow politics until the final couple of months.
Meanwhile there is a conviction in Colorado of an ex county clerk over a 2021 scheme to breach Colorado’s election system.

It appears JD Vance may have one of his venture capital projects come back and bite him on the ass:
Workers allege ‘nightmare’ conditions at Kentucky startup JD Vance helped fund -- https://www.cnn.com/2024/08/13/polit...nce/index.html Failed Vance-backed start-up stirred worker complaints, then hired migrants: JD Vance in the news -- https://www.cleveland.com/politics/2...-the-news.html Kinda hard to explain why his project went and imported migrant workers when there are all those US worker just dying to get a job; then again, his butt buddy Trump knowingly staffed some of his properties with illegals until he put his hat in the political ring; also, note the project ended in bankruptcy: I guess Vance is also trying to copy Trump's six (6) bankruptcies; gee, maybe everyone should thank the GOP for offering up a POTUS/VP slate of financial/business failures to run our nation's economy... On the subject of migrant workers, the biggest drawing card for migrants is the prospect of jobs in the US; now, the law says it is illegal to hire illegals, bu, dang, if the illegals don't find jobs, anyway; in all the talk of immigration reforms and building walls, etc., the glaringly huge fact that employers in the US in several areas of the economy regularly flaunt the established laws and continue to hire illegals; some of you may be aware of the existence of a government program called E-Verify (EV), which is supposed to allow an employer to verify if a potential employee is actual legally qualified to work in the US; sounds like a real good idea, right?; but when the law was originally passed, there was extensive lobbying by certain sectors of the US economy to not make the program mandatory, just having participation as voluntary, essentially gutting the original intent of the legislation: making it extremely difficult for illegals to get jobs and disincentivizing migrants form wanting to enter the US; the voluntary nature of EV has been going on for decades and every time the idea is broached of making compliance with EV mandatory, the same well-connect businesses/industries quietly push down any attempts to close the massive flaw in the law; the businesses involved in gutting the law are the same every time: the major hotel and resort chains, big agriculture, labor intensive businesses like the meat packing industry, etc., with a very large number of those companies operating in Red States, which also points out a glaring degree of hypocrisy when the GOP politicians from those states rail on and on about the illegal immigration problem while the big businesses in their state flaunt immigration laws; I have long wanted to see the Congress finally put an end to the pussyfooting around those special interest employers and make them comply with EV; and, to ensure they do comply, make the fines and penalties much higher than they are now... <O>

Only thing I care anything about is tightening up the border, federal spending. Drilling for more domestic oil. I also miss those 4 years of relative peace.

It looks like the GOP/Trump/Vance effort to 'sift boat' Walz is not getting quite the approbation from vets they expected...

A nice list; I posted links to that same Heritage.org page a while back when I pointed out that not even that highly vaunted organization could muster up enough incidents to even come near to substantiating "massive voter fraud" nor could they cite a single case of an election, local, state, or national that was adversely or even significantly affected by "massive voter fraud", and I quite sure they are trying their hardest; my original post citing the Hertitage.org tally: https://www.subsim.com/radioroom//sh...postcount=7744 ...and my stance on the whole "massive voter fraud" form the above post: Quote:

Ok, "I'll bite", as you put it: can you definitively prove the motive for Walz's retirement was specifically in an effort to avoid being deployed to Iraq and not just a soldier, having given 24 years of his life to the military simply wanting to seek other experiences?; further, any specific proof Walz's service was any other than honorable? We're waiting...
There has been ample evidence that Walz had been contemplating his retirement from the military at least a couple of years before turning in his papers and that has been affirmed by others who served in the Guard with him; also, Walz could have mustered out after he did his twenty years, but he chose to reup for another four years when 9/11 happened; somehow, it doesn't sound or seem like the actions of a soldier seeking to avoid combat... As far as he might have know about the deployment before hand, I again challenge you to provide factual, verifiable evidence to back up such an assertion; anyone who has ever served in the National Guard during wartime knows that rumors of deployment abound in the ranks and a great many of those are just that, rumors... If JD Vance and his ilk find the only way to aggrandize being a 4 year correspondent (which usually is a staff position, or as they used to say in Vietnam, a REMF) against a soldier who willingly gave up 24 years of his life in service to his country and served honorably, than I'd say that speaks to the fragility of Vance's ego and his tenuous grasp on a semblance of extensive military experience... Another question to be considered: when Walz retired he was 41 years old; I don't think the US Army would think it would be a good idea to send a middle aged man into combat (and also consider he had already been treated for hearing loss due to his duty in the artillery); Walz would have most likely been posted somewhere away from combat and might not even have been sent with the rest of his unit; it makes more sense to make way for a younger, able-bodied, soldier than to task a guy on the downward side of life's bell curve to do combat duty... Like I have said in other instances, use common sense and logic; it tends to work better than vile bellicose... <O>
