I just got the 7600GT AGP version and my SH3 performance
went down from an ATI 9600XT. doesen't make any sense,
12 pipes vs 4. more mem. 128/256 and I bumped my FSB
from 133/175 then bought a Volcano extreme 12 cooler for
my XP2100 and run it @ 2.3Ghz. everything else runs faster
and my benches went way up but SH3 runs like total crap so
I guess I'll be trying different drivers from Nvidea to see if
I can correct problem. Sucks cause SH3 is THE game I did
all this for!!

I run a ATI XT850 256mb it runs SH3 well if you don't go over board with extras. I say save the money and wait until you can just get a top dog video card but thats my shopping style.

Just bought the Nvidia GF 7600GS AGP, but I don't know how it is yet, since I havn't installed it yet. The cards fits in the comp, but the box that pumps around electicity in the comp doesn't give the electricity we need, which is 350 watt.
My comp. pumps around 250 watt.....
So we bought a new box....which doesn't fit!!!!!!

Now we have to get one from Dell, which is A LOT more expensive!

For SH3 you really want an ATI card of the X1000-family. Their filtering is markedly better than nvidias and it really shows in this game with very sharp angles to textures and huge distances. If you play lots of other games however, I'd recommend the 7600 series without hesitation. Its cheap and quite good.

You will find that the 7300GT actually runs a little faster than the 7600GS and is also cheaper . Im currently using the following 7300GT myself.

http://www.hardwarezone.com.au/revie...70&cid=3&pg=10

I was just about to upgrade this card to a 7900GT last week but have been told that 7950 GT's by all manufactures will be availble soon. This is the 7950 single GPU BTW and not to be confused with the dual 7950's .

I was holding off to buy a 7950 but after doing more reasearch and reading about the ATI Radeon 1900XT I am thinking I will get one of these now. As not even the 7900, or the 7950 can come anywhere near it. It even beats the 7900GTX in some games and is also alot cheaper than a 7900GTX .

Either way you make up your own mind and compare video cards here ..

Can you elaborate on this? I found SH3 benefited from turning AA and AF on but that should be true regardless of the card's manufacturer, so I'm not sure what you're describing.

Have you plugged in the power cable to the graphics card? Many forget that these cards require more power.
