The idea somehow gives me a bad feeling, uber copy protection with the right software. Don't let the guys at Starforce see this thread. And if I bought one, I'd get it at Walmart. wink

I prefer the microwave. But, realistically speaking, this thing does a 100% job, whereas the microwave does about a 60% job.
If you truely had some super code-word secret information on a disk, it's still possible to pull information off it after a microwave. The microwave will render it unreadable in anything but a disk mastering drive, and even then it will just be a jumble of bits, without any kind of structure or hints. If you were an accountant with really high-dollar customers, yeah. I'd use this over a microwave, even over a shredder. Interesting, but a niche market. |
