Some more info on the two games:

Due to legal issues between BIS and Codemasters, the original publishers of Operation Flashpoint, Codemasters owns the intellectual property to the game. Since BIS has severed its connection with Codemasters and no longer own the Operation Flashpoint name, Armed Assault is considered to be the direct descendent of Operation Flashpoint but not a full sequel (hence references to Armed Assault as Operation Flashpoint 1.5) while a total sequel to Operation Flashpoint is currently referred to as "Game 2". Codemasters plans to release a rival title to BIS using the name Operation Flashpoint 2 with which BIS has no participation. The current estimated release date is July / September2006 based on an official declaration of an Q3 2006 release.

Those screenshots are still not from Operation flashpoint 2, as since the split codemasters is last i heard still looking for a new developer to start work on it. All those screenshots are from what was going to be OFP2 from BIS, and is now Armed Assault. Just go to the main site if you want to see the exact same style of graphics. http://www.armedassault.com/

As proof just look at Codemaster's site for OFP2, there are no screen shots, no nothing, just a hardly used forum.

THe screenshots I provided are full of HDR. If you go look at the screenshots of Armed Assault, they lack HDR at all, even the ones posted a couple days ago by BIS themselves. ALso read that mag article - the engine I post above has 'nothing' to do with BIS's AA. The engine that made the above screenshots is still in Codemasters hands and apparently is pretty far along. Also, they never have updated the OFP 2 site, and probably never will - its looked like that since it was annouced.

This is from the ArmA forums FAQ

-Is ArmA the sequel to OFP? What's Game 2?
  • No, it is a different game, the name Operation Flashpoint belongs to Codemasters. OFP 2 (presumably made by Codemasters) will be the sequel to OFP. ArmA is an engine update based on improvements from OFP:Elite for the Xbox (it is further improved though).

Game 2 was the orignally planned sequel to OFP, now it's a working title

So it seems those screenshots may be from "Game 2" from BIS which is under development.

Btw i cant find anything post the split with Codemasters and BIS of any sort of updates what so ever on OFP2. There is also no way they are gona develope a brand new game from scratch in less then a year. Plus Codemasters doesnt own the engine BIS developed which those screenshots were generated, BIS does.

For OFP lovers, it may be a very good next 12 months!
