T=20 at 0820. 0825 - Surfaced from S-Tiefe after 15' and 1.1nm. 0826 - Compressed Air Supply filled. 1126 - Qu.4499AF bottom right - ALARM! from Sunderland in 330°true, E=9000, first on southerly heading, then turning toward the boat. No FuMB Detection (also, no Magic Eye). 1128 - At A-10 two Wabos and at 1131 and 1134 further Wabos - no damages. Boat remains submerged. 1200 - Qu.4499AF - Days Run: 213.7 nm - ↗ 201.0nm (20h) - ↘ 12.7nm (4h) Total: 1344.1 nm (5days 14h 17') - ↗ 1309.3nm (5 days 2h 54') - ↘ 34.8nm (11h 23') On course 288°; 485cbm (8cbm in 24h) 1300 - Setting for Reception Depth. T=20 at 1305. 1311 - Surfaced from S-Tiefe after 1h 11' and 3.4nm - since Etmal (Total 1h 45', 5.2 nm). 1313 - Boat ventilated and Compressed Air Supply filled; Battery 90%. 1320 - Testing of main diesels acc. B.d.U.-Standing Order No. 510: 2xH.F., 375RPM, 13kn; G.F., 450RPM, 16kn; A.K., 496RPM, 17.5kn, for 30min. - all okay. 1512 - Qu.4495AF top left - FuMB detection in 166°true, E=13100 (no Magic Eye). Just before closing the C/T hatch, a twin A/C is sighted at E=6800. 1514 - At T=40 Wabos far off. 1515 - At A-Meter no damages. 1521 - Further Wabos far off are heard. 1555 - Setting for Reception Depth. T=20 at 1600. 1612 - Surfaced from S-Tiefe after 1h and 3.0nm. Directly after surfacing, FuMB signals (Magic Eye) and a A/C is sighted in 130°true, E=13000, flying off on a southerly heading. 1613 - Boat ventilated; Battery 88.5%. 1645 - Qu.4491AF center right - FuMB Warning (no Magic Eye) and at 1646 A/C sighted in 230°true, E=12700, first on course N and at E=10000 turns towards the boat. Diving from approaching A/C. At A-20, four Wabos and further on at A-Meter, another 2x2 Wabos until 1651 - no damages. Cmdr.: Certainly a well patrolled area. FuMB and lookout crew are working well together. 1700 - Setting for Reception Depth. T=20 at 1705. 1711 - Surfaced from S-Tiefe after 25' and 1.3nm. 1716 - 2xH.F. (Cmdr.: Need to make up for lost ground) 1720 - Qu.4491AF center - ALARM! from Sunderland in 15°true, E=8000, on course SSW. No FuMB Detection (also, no Magic Eye). 1722 - At A-Meter three Wabos and two more at 1723 - no damages. 1730 - Setting for Reception Depth. T=20 at 1735. 1740 - Surfaced from S-Tiefe after 20' and 1.4nm. 1742 - Compressed Air Supply filled. 1745 - 2xH.F. 1817 - Qu.4459AF bottom right - Sunderland approaching boat from 200°true. No FuMB Detection (also, no Magic Eye). Is already pretty close, E=7000. Turning with A.K. toward the attacking A/C. Machine Gun fire, 4 Wabos fall wide behind the boat. Immediately after the fly-over, ALARM! At A-20 further four Wabos. Cmdr.: Turning towards the attacking A/C caused the Wabos to overshoot the boat. 1820 - At A-Meter, hull damage is assessed at 2%. This means that the boat now has a safe diving depth of max.215m! 1845 - Submerged cruise at A-20. 1900 - Inspection of Pi-G7H pistols acc. Standing B.d.U. Order No.307: 4 AtoFat under the bow and 3 AtoFat under the stern floor plates. 1915 - Sundown. 2002 - All Bow AtoFat Pi-G7H checked and found operational. 2100 - All Stern AtoFat Pi-G7H checked and found operational. Lights-Out for the Off-Watch. 2300 - CO₂ Warning at 1.7% (after 4h 43min.); Battery: 75.7%. RST
